January was particularly wet for Ventura County, according to data from the Ventura County Watershed Protection District. The district collects rainfall totals from different spots in the county. Here's how much rain fell in January, a look at rainfall as a percent of normal to date and a comparison of the current rain year to past years.

According to the data, the spots surveyed by the district received well above normal rain. The district determines its normal totals from the 1957-1992 period. A comparison shows all the areas are above 100 percent for the current rain year with the highest being Piru with 187.9 percent and the lowest at 109.5 percent in Moorpark.
The district considers a rain year to run from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. While the current rain year is not over, rainfall in local areas already surpasses last year.
